GOING GLOBAL
So I was sitting around and was thinking to myself...
"Man, Fur Face Boy sure has grown over the past year and it's SO awesome to see that people are really starting to take notice of the brand, but how do I make Fur Face Boy EVEN MORE noticed? Hmmmm....DAMMIT, HOW?!"
Then I remembered back to last year how when I first started FFB - I'd randomly message people via myspace (mywhat?) to give them a TOTALLY FREE Fur Face Boy shirt! My goal was to send one away to all 50 U.S. states! And that I DID! So then I thought..."Hmmmm....what the hell, this time I wanna go global!"
That's right everybody, GLOBAL. My goal this time around is to get 1 FFB shirt in each (except for Antartica) continent! Shipping will all be on YOUR Fur Face Boy! All you have to do is e-mail me your name, shirt size and shipping info to this VERY specific e-mail address: global@furfaceboy.com. Whoever e-mails me first from your continent gets in on a FREE FFB shirt!
I'm not looking forward to filling out customs forms but I am looking VERY forward to sending my international peoples some FFB! So c'mon...LET'S MAKE FUR FACE BOY GLOBAL!

WE ARE 1976
So about a month ago, I stepped into a shop called We Are 1976. I was there to drop off some newsletters for the Johnny Cupcakes Suitcase Tour (which by the way they already had because, well...DUH! We Are 1976 was the Dallas host!) Anyways, I first met Vynsie (one of the owners of the shop) and she was super cool / super nice. And since she had a background in Graphic Design (like me!) it just made it that much easier to talk to her. I clearly remember picking up an art zine and a Jeffery Brown comic while visiting.
I then met Vynsie again during the Johnny Cupcakes stop along with her brother / co-owner of We Are 1976, Derek. Again, they were such nice people, so easy to talk to and never was there any kind of weird awkward silent moments between us. It was nothing but good times!
So a few days after the Johnny Cupcakes stop, We Are 1976 got in contact with me via twitter and Direct Messaged me what's below...

How could I pass up the opportunity to have FFB in such an AMAZING shop owned by such AMAZING people?! This was a no brainer, OF COURSE! C'mon, let's check out We Are 1976...

Inside, you'll find a HUGE assortment of cool art / design goodies!

From cool toys, vinyl figures and plushy dolls to comic books, trade paperbacks, design books and sketchbooks to...

...Asian candy / treats, post cards, kitchen ware, jewelry, art prints and original art too!

Speaking of original art, We Are 1976 also has a section in the shop dedicated to showcase local artists / designers! So fresh art is always on display! Hmmmm.......I wonder if I could showcase a collection of some of my personal work one day?

Right now, the super talented and Dallas' own NREAZON has her work on display. I highly suggest you head on out to We Are 1976 to check out her work! We Are 1976 also ALWAYS holds cool design / art workshops every now and then. Workshops range from screen printing to book binding, twitter marketing to so many other cool awesomeness! Check out their schedule of workshops HERE.

Toys, books, treats, kitchenware, jewelry, art / design and a gallery space too! Let's not forget that We Are 1976 also has an assortment of cool T-shirts from many designers, including...FUR FACE BOY! (HEY! That's me! NEAT!)

So make sure you swing on through We Are 1976 and grab yourself some mini sushi, original screen printed art, an Adrian Tomine TPB and some FFB! Also, don't forget to give my new friends, Vynsie, Derek and Jully all Dragon (and snake) Hi-Fives! If you don't, then my man, NINE will bite your face off! So Hi-Five or pay the consequences!

WE ARE 1976
1902 N. Henderson Avenue
Dallas, Texas 75206
(214) 821-1976

P.S. Did you know that the Rooster gets along well with the Dragon and Snake?! FFB + We Are 1976 = Harmony.

ERICKA
Last night I treated my friends, Ericka (right) and Yolanda out to dinner at Picasso's Pizza and Grill!

You're probably thinking..."Who the F is Ericka?" Well...Ericka is FUR FACE BOY'S #1 FAN! Just see for yourself...

Not only does Ericka have pretty much ALL Fur Face Boy shirts , but she also just got this...

NOW THAT'S A DEDICATED FAN! I first got to know of Ericka when Shogun and Centre kept telling me that she would constantly show up to their shops lookng for FFB. I eventually met her at a Fur Face Boy event and again and again and again and again at other FFB events! Ericka is VERY sweet and SUPER nice! You can't hate her! Believe me, she AND Yolanda are VERY lovable people! Not only does Ericka collect FFB shirts, but she's also a big Air Jordan / sneakerhead! She also loves joking around, Jay-Z, Kanye, The Dream, Jeezy, Trey Songz, Eric Benet and Bobby Valentino just to name a few.
It's fans like Ericka that help motivate me to constantly make FFB EVEN better. And the pressure's on, because I don't want her tattoo going to waste (you too Terrance!) I love hearing how excited she gets when a new shirt or exclusive drops. I love how she religiously reads the blog and I love that she tells all of her friends and family about the brand that she's so passionate about (check out her Nephew, Nick HERE). Ericka promises hat she'll be sending more pics of her rocking FFB Series III soon! And I KNOW I'll be able to count on that!
Oh, and Yolanda...this song's for you.

AH! There it is! ADIKT....nice, huh?

Adikt brings MAJOR HEAT when it comes to footwear. You can find EXCLUSIVE accounts from Nike: Basketball, Jordan, Air Max and casual. Along with Nikes you can also find Puma, New Balance and more.

As for tees? YES. You'll be able to find tees from brands such as Undftd, Stussy, The Hundreds, Play Clothes, Huf, Benny Gold, Crooks & Castles, Diamond, 10 Deep and now...

...FUR FACE BOY!

If you're ever around the West Village in Dallas, make sure you head on out to Adikt. While you're there, be sure to say..."What's up?!" to the homie, Darren! I can't lie, when I first met Darren, I thought he was gonna be mean as F ! But instead, he's cool as F ! Hahaha....we probably talked for a good hour about random shit, shoes, work ethic, GWAR, the state of street apparel, Japan, our businesses and what lies in the future for the both of us.

Darren and I both have some plans and foresee that we WILL be working together someday soon to raise even more awareness of Adikt and Fur Face Boy! A BIG THANKS to Darren for taking the chance on FFB! Adikt has ALWAYS been on my radar since I started the brand and now you can find it there! Cool huh? Yea, I know. So stop by Adikt and pick yourself up some W3lcome Home Jordan 2010's (or Silver Anniversary Jordan XI's) and grab a FFB shirt to match! Then go to Pinkberry next door to celebrate your purchases!

LITTLE FFB: BLUE VARIANT
LITTLE FFB - I’ve always been a fan of Nintendo's 1987 classic, Punch-Out! I loved all of the characters from Glass Joe to Piston Honda, Great Tiger to Bald Bull, Soda Popinski to Super Macho Man! But out of all the badass characters, my favorite was Little Mac! Just playing as the little underdog and whooping on these bigass giants made me feel so radical!
So one day, me and my friend, Shogun John were having a few drinks and talking then all of a sudden John blurts out…”I’m gonna do a Punch-Out shirt for you! It’s gonna be badass!” and I was like “Cool. Yea man, that’d be awesome.” Next thing you know, John works his magic and (START) Punch….LITTLE FFB! Isn’t John the shit? Yea, I know.
Now that you know the story behind the making of the LITTLE FFB tee, I think that you should also know that the original green colorway is ALMOST SOLD OUT! If you can't get your hands on the green one, or if green just isn't the color for you, then just know that my good friends at SHOGUN will be carrying an EXCLUSIVE BLUE VARIANT...

The LITTLE FFB BLUE VARIANT releases today (May 8, 2010) at SHOGUN ONLY and is EXTREMELY LIMITED (Only 24 produced) Doc WON'T be able to help you this time! So make sure you head out to SHOGUN and pick one up today!

AWESOME LETTER
So a few days ago I got this really awesome letter in the mail from my friend, John in San Antonio. I met John back in March during Sneakerpalooza. Anyways, just read the letter(s)...

John added an extra letter before he sent it to me...

Yes, Spider-man IS my favorite super hero!

Again, awesome letter, huh?
It's SO crazy because when I first started FFB, I never intended to inspire anyone. All I wanted to do was just do my thing, be me and be happy. It's seriously just as simple as that! I see it as a GIANT bonus that along my way I've come to inspire others. So if at ANYTIME, anyone needs some help, tips, tricks or words of wisdom all you have to do is email me. And don't be surprised if I ask for your help too because I'm still trying to figure out ASSLOADS of things out myself! I can't promise that I'll respond to you immediately, but usually, I eventually do!
Thanks John for taking the time to put together such a thoughtful / sincere letter. I went ahead and emailed you a 50% OFF DISCOUNT CODE to the FFB web store for your awesome gesture! This Spidey action figure will definitely be going into my collection of other web head figures!
Your friendly neighborhood,

SERIES III RELEASE PARTY RECAP

Now that I have gotten your attention with this puppy's face...let's recap the Fur Face Boy Series III Release Party!
THE ANNEX SPACE - I was so busy trying to get performers and Series III prepared all month long that I never really thought about how to decorate MY space. Then I looked at the Fur Face Boy x Centre Collab and thought..."Color spectrum huh? Hmmmmm..." So I printed out 500 release day flyers in an assortment of colors (at Kinko's. Ugh.) and started taping them ALL OVER the space Friday immediately right after work with my intern, Angel. Angel also had a cool idea to print big FFB faces to cover the 3 massive light boxes in the space, we did that and the finished space looked INCREDIBLE! Best of all...it all cost a mere $50!

THE FOOD - Me and Angel didn't get home until like 10:30pm from decorating the Annex space. When I got home, I had to immediately get all the shirts boxed and ready to go for Saturday. I didn't finish until like 5 am and I didn't even buy the food for the release yet! I just figured I would wake up at 8am or so and go to Kroger to buy some food. Instead, I woke up at like 11am and the release started at 2pm! SHIT! I quickly got ready and headed out to Kroger and bought an assload of hotdogs and cheap soda. By the time I was done, it was like 12:30pm.

THE STOCK - I arrived at the Annex at about 1pm and Angel arrived shortly after. We still had to hang flyers outside the space and a few more to fill up some holes AND for our photobooth too! I had no clue what the F I was doing and with time being a big constraint, I was starting to panic somewhat way deep down inside the pit of my gut AND I still haven't even picked up the ALMIGHTY keg yet! Eventually, I just let Angel finish setting things up (Yes, he's that trustworthy and that good!) while I went to go pick up...

...THE KEG - I waited until the very last minute before the the crowd started to arrive to go get the keg. I had EXTREMELY AWESOME parking in front of the Annex, so I asked Centre's intern Aldrin to take me to go pick it up. When we arrived to get the keg, I realized that I forgot my I.D. (typical me) I asked Aldrin to use his I.D. and he said..."I'm 18." Then I said..."Quit bullshitting man, gimme your I.D." Thing was, was that Aldrin REALLY IS 18!! I had no clue! So Aldrin turned right back around so that I could get my I.D. The Annex was filling up fast but I trusted Angel to man the sales. Anyways, Me and Aldrin then went right back to get the keg. Mission accomplished - but WAIT there's more...
The place that had the keg ran out of trash cans (to set the keg in) so Aldrin had to drive me to Home Depot to get one. When I checked out and started leaving Home Depot, we realized that the trash can had the wrong size lid and that both the handles were busted! So we had to go back inside Home Depot and exchange for another one.
In the end, we finally arrived with the keg and everyone was happy.
A BIG THANKS to Aldrin, you more than deserved that FFB BAM! tee!

THE DJ'S -
DJ LOVE - Alright, so get this...I don't know shit about DJ-ing or getting DJ equipment togeher. I had no clue on what to do. But this was MY event, so I figure I better find out and make this shit happen ASAP! I got leads on who to talk to, which led me to DJ Love. I gave him an e-mail asking if he would like to be the house DJ for the event and he said..."I'd love to!" Then I said..."AWESOME! Where do I rent DJ shit at?" and he said..."Don't worry about it, I'll bring everything." As in EVERYTHING! DJ Love brought his WHOLE setup! Speakers and even mics for the performers! Best of all, he said that since he was so down with my brand (DJ Love is a BIG FFB supporter. He's placed multiple orders and always rocks FFB at his shows!) that he'd do it for FREE! What the F , right?! DJ LOVE, MAN! D.J. F ING. LOVE!

NIRO - I usually have lunch every week with my friend, Niro. I first met Niro during the FFB Series 2 release at Shogun. He was a real cool dude. A few months later I went on a trip to Oklahoma City with him to sponsor a show. I got to know Niro during the trip more and realized what a cool / good guy he really was. I remember asking him during one of our lunches..."How do I organize this shit?!" I had no clue on how to set a set list, so Niro pretty much gave me a blueprint on how to set one! Thanks to NIro, this event probably wouldn't have gone so smooth!

FISHR PRYCE - Fishr is one of the very first people to own a Fur Face Boy shirt. I remember reading about how big of a draw he was, so I really wanted him to rock a FFB shirt during one of his performances. He has, and since then we have become friends. We'd go to lunch every so often and yuck it up. I asked Fishr to DJ a portion of the event and he said..."Anything for you, FFB!"
Alot of people might say..."WTF? Are you crazy?! Why have 3 DJ's at one event?!" Well, it's because that's just how I wanna F ING do it! This was Fur Face Boy's day and I wanted everyone who has helped the brand grow come together and represent!
Fishr opened the event and played the song I requested from him a few day prior...find out what it isby clicking HERE.

THE PERFORMERS - Before I get to the performers, check out snippets from each performer below. I was so busy that I forgot to video anything, so BIG SHOUT OUT to my new friend, Kalan Briggs for allowing me to use his video...
JOHN-E SPECS - I first met John-E last year. I remembered he was hustling his music (and still is) and would constantly e-mail and myspace message me to listen to his music. Day after day, week after week until I finally did. I definitely ain't a talent scout but I knew what I liked. So I met John-E up and a few nights later, I went to his show. He was AWESOME! Oh, and that cutie to his right? That's his so fresh girl, Katy! Download John-E's mix HERE and listen to "She's a Fresh Girl" to find out just how much these two are in love with each other.

INFO RED - I met Info last year for the first time at the FFB x Centre BBQ. Gradually I got to know him and found out he's just a bigass kid who likes to clown, collect shoes and rap! I gambled with him in Vegas (when I was at the Pool Tradeshow) and went to the Action Figure Museum with him in Oklahoma (when I sponsored a Jabee show). Oh and you don't even want to get me started on the "Earthquake" story. HAH!

LEON THE PROFESSIONAL - Truth is, I met Leon (like REALLY met Leon) just 2 days before the event when I asked all of the performers to meet me up for dinner to go over the game plan. Leon's a real cool guy and has a badass girlfriend, Ani. They ALWAYS rock FFB and show MUCH LOVE towards the brand. I've always seen them at different events and we'd talk for a few minutes here and there. A few days before the release, Ani emailed me asking if Leon aka her mi amore, could be in the show last minute. I gave it some thought and at first was like..."Man, F NO!" But then I rethought about some things...I rethought about the people who gave me a chance and helped me out...DJ Love, Niro and Centre just to name a few off a LONGASS LIST. So when I e-mailed Ani back, I was more than happy to squeeze Leon's performance in. And I'm glad I did, cause his was SUPERB!

SORE LOSERS - This is a funny story...the VERY first time I met Brown and Blue (Sore Losers) was at that John-E Specs show I went to last year. I'm not even sure Sore Losers remembers this...Well, when John-E took the stage I was chanting along with the crowd..."John-E, John-E, John-E...!" while pumping my fists in the air. Sore Losers was right in front of me, turned around and had this look on their face like..."The Fu.....h?" You gotta remember, I was the only Asian in a very dominant black crowd. Haha...after that episode, I'd constantly see Brown at different events or just around town. He said he was down with Fur Face Boy and sent me some tracks, I listened and LOVED IT. When they released their new mix "Freeloaders" I LOVED IT EVEN MORE! Download FREELOADERS for free HERE.

JABEE - I first met Jabee at the FFB Series 2 release party at Shogun and I accidentally called him "Job-ie". I downloaded his music and was BLOWN AWAY. Deep, meaningful, lyrics will always get to me and that's what Jabee has. When I was in Oklahoma, Jabee let me stay at his place and I witnessed his creative process. He's comitted. Like when he was writing, it was tunnel vision. Just him, some paper and digging up deep emotions to form action packed poetry! It was pretty cool to see. It was also pretty cool eating at CiCi's and walking around with him at the mall. He has so many fans in OKC that shouts out his name and runs towards him. I felt like I was apart of his posse. I hope my dorkiness didn't downgrade him, but too bad It probably did. :(
A HUGE THANKS to Jabee for riding all the way down from OKC to the Release Party. I really means a GREAT DEAL to me!

THE CROWD - I have to admit, before the event I was terrified that no one would show up, but I was wrong! That place was filled with people through out the entire day. Both inside AND outside the Annex space! People were there to catch all the performances AND...

...catch some FFB Series III!
The first sale went to my man, Brandon Mitchell! I randomly took Brandon and his dad (Chuck) out to dinner last year and I made a new friend / fan for life! I plan on taking the Mitchell's out to dinner again soon. I hope the Mitchell's pull up to the restuarant in this again.

Along with Series III, me and Centre also released this EXCLUSIVE COLLAB shirt! It was selling quick! In fact, we sold out of size Small and only few of each size remain. You can pick one up (if you're lucky to find one) up at Centre today!

More Series III pick ups!

The FFB WHIP IT! was a HOT commodity!

As was the LITTLE FFB tee!

HEY! FFB Series 2 was at the party too!

And so did a few of the VERY FIRST FFB tees!

The very first FFB Girl's tee (FFB IS MY BFF) is a VERY RARE sight to see.

It was a VERY SUCCESSFUL day! It was so fun yet SO busy! Believe it or not, I didn't even get to completely decorate the space. I didn't even get a chance to snap any photos outside and I didn't even get pictures of how hard my intern Angel was working (I'm very proud of you!). It was great to see all of the people who made FFB what it is today, attending (My friend Chris from Madgods even drove in from Austin to show support!). I found myself taking a step back MANY times thinking to myself..."Wow. I did it. I don't know how the F I pulled this one off but I actually MUTHA F ING DID IT!" - Never and I mean NEVER, have I ever planned an event or get-together. NEVER! But this time I did. And to see the results of the AMAZING turnout I was pretty damn proud of myself.
I don't know how many times I've stated this on this blog, and I know it sounds very cliche, but I truly believe that if you want something bad enough, you REALLY can make it happen. Just plan, follow through and get it done! That's all it really comes down to. I was able to make this release happen with under $500 and alot of heavy pushing through social media sites and guerilla marketing. And if I can do it! So can YOU!
THANK YOU CENTRE! I couldn't have done this without you guys! I remember how astonished I was during the BBQ last year and to now see quadruple the results just one year later, is INCREDIBLE! I can't wait to see what's to come next year! Until then, here's that puppy's face again...
