ALL-STAR SNEAKEND / ANNX

This past weekend was MEGA BUSY. I did double duty working FFB at both All-Star Sneakend (at the House of Blues) and Centre's Annx Pop Up shop. I'm gonna start off with Sneakend first, but if you want to jump to read about the Annx then click HERE.

So yea, Sneakend...lucky for me, my day job was closed due to the record snowfall here in Dallas. That meant I had the entire day to take care of Fur Face Boy at Sneakend. Sneakend was a collaborative effort combining Texas Sneaker groups from DFW (Heatseekers, Deadstock), Houston (H-Town Sneaker Summit) and San Antonio (San Antonio Sneaks Up) Though it was during the middle of the day on a cold, snowy Friday, the turnout was incredible!

Sneakend was where I officially released the Fur Face Boy All-Star Tee. My man, Matty Opp made sure to snag one up! I still have a few available HERE.

Fur Face Boy has really started covering some major ground here in Dallas / Fort Worth. It seems like EVERYONE is down with the brand!

I was so busy working my table, that I didn't even have time to check out all of the collections of sneakers! DAMMIT! Anyways, these two girls worked me the longest. They passed by my table like about 2 or 3 times before finally deciding to pick up some FFB...that is, until after deciding on which shirt and size to get AND playing me for a fool via the bargaining game. Though I was a tad bit annoyed, I really respect these two for looking to get a better deal - and that they did! GOOD JOB GIRLS!

Without a doubt, I KNEW my girl Ericka (aka #1) would be on hand to pick up the All-Star shirt! See more of Ericka in her FFB HERE.

I printed a ULTRA limited run of 12 for the GIRLS ONLY "Love is FFB" shirt. Now, I have no more. Hahaha...regret not getting it now, huh? *Tisk *Tisk...

Better than wearing your heart on your sleeve...

Astro Fur is one of my top 3 favorite FFB's.

These are my new friends, Thien (left) and his brother Trung (right). They have their own brand - Loyal K*N*G. Check it out! It's awesome stuff! I invited people to chat with me on AOL / iChat a few weeks back and Trung was one of thse who chatted it up with me. He told me he was a big fan of FFB and that I was a big inspiration to his brand! It felt pretty damn cool to know this and even more cool to know that he made the drive all the way from Longview, TX (2 hours away from Dallas) to meet me and to pick up an All-Star shirt! I also made a deal with Trung to trade some FFB shirts for some Loyal K*N*G shirts. I kept my end of the deal up and mailed him an Astro Fur, Trung on the other hand HAND DELIVERED me a shirt! Cool huh? Yea, I know. I told him to stick around so that he could join me and my friends from Shogun for a bite to eat...

...at Hooters. It wasn't just me, Loyal K*N*G and Shogun though, it seemed like pretty much EVERYONE from Sneakend hopped on over to Hooters (it was right next door). The Heat Seekers, Adikt and Franalations!

Marissa Thompson (Daughter of Heat Seeker, Tom Thompson) letting everybody know she's 1 of 12.

This is Nelson. He's an UNofficial member of Adikt and LOVES white / cement Air Jordan III's.

This is my man, Dave. He's an official member of Adikt. He's a real cool dude and he LOVES crab legs. Look at him sniffing this crab leg before he tears it up. I didn't even realize they had crab legs at Hooters!
WEIRD.

Franalations has the largest Nike SB collection on the planet. Watch his youtube channel if you don't believe me.

After Hooters, EVERYONE headed out to the Jordan 23/25 Exhibit space. Most of us got a VIP pass (EVEN TRUNG!) So we all hung out and clowned around pretty much the entire night. We even got to hang with Bobbito Garcia (if you don't believe me, ask Dave for to see the pictures!) After the night, the next day awaits...

--------------------------------------------------------------------- ANNX ------------------------------------------------------------------

I headed out to Centre's Annx
like at 1pm the next day to rearrange my set up...

I had some help from this cool guy, Danny. He was just hanging around and was willing to help me fold shirts, hang up my banner and talk about stupid bullshit. Man, so nice!

The Annx was also host to a Dunk Contest that day (The previous day they had a Skate contest). So, PLENTY of people were on hand to check out all the fun.

Including Fur Face Boy fans!

Shy folks!

Unkommon Kolor!

Dudes rolling with their entourage!

Helloooooo.com!

These kids from Philadelphia!

Girls wearing nifty jackets!

Short haired girls named Katy!

DJ Sober!

Picnic!

And the Slam Dunk competitors: James, repping Kid Robot!

Erik, repping Undfted!

Reverend Ayala, repping Adidas!

Multi of Big Red Rooster, repping Matrimoney!

Blue The Great, repping Unkommon Kolor!

And MY HOMIE - Angel, repping Fur Face Boy!

Since this IS my blog, I gotta focus mainly on Angel. Here's what Angel whipped up for Round 1. YES! THIS was for round 1!
I repeat...ROUND 1!

Round 2 (Jordan homage)...

No disrespect to the other guys in the competition, but Blue the Great from Unkommon Kolor was the toughest challenge in the contest. He did this dunk in the 2nd Round which made me worry because me and Angel talked about doing this too (listen carefully to hear me start worrying)...

Round 3 (Final Round): Angel assured me not to worry and went off and did this dunk...THE Fur Face Boy Dunk!

OWNED!

Angel went out and bought this beard without me even knowing! GREATNESS!

Who's the champ again? Angel and Fur Face Boy, that's who!

I LITERALLY met Angel just 2 days before the Dunk Contest! I stopped by Centre on Thursday just to check up on things and saw Angel there, he said he was gonna be in the dunk contest, so we just started talking about different dunks and what he could do and how high he could jump, basketball and just clowning around. Then all of a sudden we just agreed that he'd dunk repping Fur Face Boy.

Angel was all saying he was gonna do this and do that and in my head I was like..."Uhhh...OK. Sure. Whatever" not knowing just how amazingly freakish his athlethic abilities were! I was blown away with his first dunk in the first round! And immediately KNEW that this was no contest! It was pretty much over from the get go! I told Angel I'd give him a shirt for each round he won (there were 3 rounds).
In the end, I gave him a well deserved 7 shirts!

Angel's a real cool / humble kid! He astonished the crowd and really made me proud! Below is his girl, Cara. Angel and Cara have been together for 5 years! Cool huh? Yea, I know. I wanna thank Cara for a few of the videos you saw above. THANKS CARA! And don't you two love-struck kids forget my relationship advice!

The Annx went on through Sunday and was a HUGE success! I'm hoping that there'll be an Annx part 2? Hmmm...who knows? I guess we'll have to wait and see. A BIG Thanks to ALL of YOU who came out and supported! And another BIG thanks to the Centre crew for inviting me be apart of something very cool!

ALDRIN! Thanks for showing me how to do that view thing on my camera!

HANCE! *Whew* the basketball goal held up! (Me and Hance assembled it Thursday night, with only 1 wrench and ALOT of hope!)

JOHNNY! Uhhhh...keep that hair growing! (???)

PHILIP! Thanks for the cases of Vitamin Water and Red Bull!

Alright. I'm going to sleep now.

FFB ALL-STAR WEEKEND

Remember those old school NBA All-Star Jerseys? Y'know...those red, white and blue ones with the stars running down the sides, the ones that Michael, Magic and Larry made famous. Man, those have ALWAYS been my favorite ASG jersey. SO CLASSIC! SO COOL! I loved it when they brought it back in 2003 too. Anyways....

IT'S BACK!
Only this time, as a Fur Face Boy T-shirt!

And keeping within the tradition of the NBA All-Star game, during production of this shirt, I began to take votes on my twitter asking YOU to decide what the color of the shirt should be and the decision was pretty unanimous - HEATHER GREY! What's best about that is since it's a neutral color, I guess you can rep BOTH the East and the West!

The FFB ALL-STAR EXCLUSIVE is limited to 36 and will be available this All-Star Weekend starting Friday, February 12th during ALL-STAR SNEAKEND at the House of Blues in Downtown Dallas from 3 - 6pm. Believe me, It's gonna be AWESOME!

Numerous celebrities from the sneaker industry, such as DJ Clark Kent, Mayor, and DJ Greg Street, are expected to be in attendance for the sneaker show and expo with a special guest appearance by Jordan Brand Architect Erin Patton. There’s also going to be a heap of sneaker displays from the biggest names in the sneaker community showing off collections of the most limited and most sought after sneakers to date. If your live around Dallas or plan to be in the area during NBA All-Star Weekend make sure you stop by. All ages are welcome and $20 cover will be collected at the door. - via sneakerobsession.com

BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE...thanks to my good friends over at CENTRE, I'll also be setting up shop at THE ANNX during All-Star Weekend starting Thursday, February 14th! I'll be sharing the space with some HOT brands like Play Clothes, Crooks & Castles, 10 Deep, Nooka, Creative Recreation just to name a few. I'll be giving away some freebies and will be selling most Fur Face Boy tee's at a special price too! So definitely swing by and take advantage!

Throughout the ENTIRE All-Star Weekend, the Annx will play host to many things including a dunk AND skate contest! So YOU KNOW there's gonna be alot of cool prizes and goodies to hand out! And oh yea, did I mention that The Clipse is gonna make an appearance on February 13th?! YEA! You just read right! So make sure to swing through because it's sure to be some pretty DAMN EXCITING SHIT! To catch all the details of the Annx happenings, visit Centre's site HERE.

WHOA! FFB ALL-STAR EXCLUSIVE! ALL-STAR SNEAKEND! And THE ANNX! Shiiiiiiiiiii....t, Let's not forget...THE FING 2010 NBA ALL-STAR GAME TOO!!! I don't know about you, but I'm gonna be one busy fool! I'll be seeing you guys around!

MY WEEKEND

So over the weekend, out of nowhere - I decided to meet up with an old friend. He was gonna be in Bristol, Rhode Island and getting there was no easy task. Read on to see how my determination beat my stupidity...

So yea, anyways...I purchased some tickets last Thursday via Priceline.com. For the last few trips or so that I've taken, my cheapass has been booking through them and I never found a problem...until now. The thing with Priceline is that it's a crapshoot of what time your flight will be (that's one of the reasons why it's so damn cheap). So when I booked my tickets, I came to find out that my arrival into RI would be 10:13PM (on Saturday). Keep in mind that my friend had something going on at 9PM. OH, SHIT!

I immediately called Priceline to change my flight, but it was no can do (I should've read the rules and regulations. Ugh.) That's when I decided to call Delta Airlines direct. They said they could change the fiight for me to a 6:10am flight. That was the only other option. I was happy with this time, hoping that by coming in early to RI, I could do some sight seeing and what not.

Then Delta tells me that the ONLY WAY to change my flight was to do it within 3 hours before the the flight I needed to be on took off. I was like..."Sure, no problemo."

I stayed up the entire Friday night working on a special project and packing my clothes so I was ZOMBIE DEAD TIRED. I left my house at like 4am to the airport to change my ticket. (Please excuse most of the photos in this post. They're pretty bad iPhone photos. Anyways...)

SUCCESS! I was able to change my flight to THE flight I needed! I had about an hour before boarding, so now I play the wating game...

...zzz...zzz...zzz...huh? Wha? F! The waiting game turned into the sleeping game! I opened my eyes and everyone at the gate was gone! I rushed to the guy working the gate and he said..."I called your name 3 times on the intercom." And I was like..."WTF?! I was sleeping right before your eyes! Why didn't you wake my ass up?!" But he wasn't the one to blame. It was all my stupidity. I went to the check-in desk to change my flight again and all they could do was change my flight back to my original 10:13pm arrival time. Again, F! I checked my bag onto that 6:10am flight too! TRIPLE F! I can't believe this! I was right there!!!

Since my departing flight was now (back to) 4pm, there was no reason to stay at the airport any longer. So I drove home extremely mad at myself and cursing up a violent storm. By the time I got home, I was still mad / dissapointed. What really got to me was the fact that I stayed up the entire night working on that special project knowing that it's value had now plunged majorly. I was also embarassed to let my friend know that I'd be SUPER late (maybe not even make it at all) to his event. I went online to search for more flights. Nothing. I crept into my bed still mad at myself (and kinda laughing at myself too) for my idiotic goof up. I fell asleep within the next minute. Zzz...

All of a sudden I woke up and remembered a telephone conversation I had with my friend the day before. He told me that Rhode Island was about a 45 minute to 1 hour drive away from Boston. I then thought..."Hmmmm...maybe I can find a Dallas to Boston flight that comes in early." I checked the www and I did! I threw on my shoes, grabbed my bags, kissed the OG FFB bye and zoomed straight back to the airport! The flight was at 10:55am. It was 9:45am. I wasn't even sure if this flight was full or not, but you'll never know if you don't try...

SUCCESS! (I guess?) I was able to get the flight to Boston that I targeted. First, I had to connect to Atlanta and then arrive at Boston at 6pm. That gave me roughly 3 hours from the time I land in Boston to:

1) Get a taxi to TF Green Airport in Rhode Island.
2) Find / get my bag.
3) Pick up my car rental.
4) Figure out exactly where my friend's event was going to be at AND drive (through unfamiliar territory) to that location.

I wrote my game plan down while on the plane:

After connecting through Atlanta, I hopped on the flight to Boston. Constantly checking the time and nervously sweating while in the air, the pilot of the Boston flight came on the intercom and said that we'd be getting in 30 minutes early! And in the situation I was in, 30 minutes was EXTREMELY valuable!

I got to Boston at about 5:30pm and immediately hopped into a cab to get to TF Green Airport in Rhode Island...

I got to TF Green Airport like at 6:30pm, so I was making some pretty good time. After paying the taxi driver about abazillion dollars, I rushed into the airport to get my bag back! There it was in plain sight behind LOCKED glass doors! I got someone to call someone down to open the doors, but the wait wasted like 30 mintues!

After I got my bag, I picked up my rental Chevy Cobalt. The guys at the rental place were cool enough to look up the address of where I needed to be. I then just entered that address into the car's GPS and was off! At this point, I had about an hour and a half to my destination.

I FINALLY made it to where I needed to be, Roger Williams University! My friend's name is John Earle. He was lecturing about this T-shirt business he owns. It's called Johnny Cupcakes. Ever heard of it?

I've been to one of Johnny's lectures before and this one was just as good, maybe even better! The lecture was about 3 hours long and went over things like how / why Johnny got started, marketing, branding, design, packaging, risks, what to see in the future and much more! It was a good refresher and a good way to keep my drive and motivation intact.

After the lecture, I hung out and ate (we ate at the school eating area, or whatever it's called...cafeteria? I don't think so, shit man, I don't know....like I said, eating area!) with Johnny and his staff:

Arielle - The Intern. Arielle is one of the nicest / sweetest people I've ever met. Real cool and highly ambitious. We talked about what her major is, when she was graduating, how / why she got the interning gig and Chick-fil-a! And who doesn't like talking about Chick-fil-a?! WHO?!

Nick- The Bodyguard. Haha...Nick's not really the bodyguard. He's more like a man of many hats. At first I had no idea who he was, I just thought he was some dude ready to kick some ass for no reason! But I came to find out that Nick's a real cool guy whos down with sports. He told me..."You guys ain't going nowhere with Romo as your quarterback. That plus you guys spent too much money on that staduim. It's nice, but it's too expensive. You guys shouldv'e used that money to get a real quarterback." I was pretty out of it by this time, so I just said something kinda generic about Romo..."Yea. He's pretty erratic." I should've just said..."16 and 1." and left it at that.

Lindsay - Johnny's Sister / Coordinator. I guess I could say Kevin IS a bodyguard, cause he's Lindsay's FIANCE! Cool huh? Yea, I know. Anyways, Lindsay had no idea I was from Texas, let alone I've been out of college for the past 6 years now. She told me I had good genes. I said..."Thanks, I got them from Target. They're Mossimo." We also talked about the 80's sitcom, Small Wonder, that old doll Kid Sister (spin off doll of My Buddy) and the Nestle Quik rabbit. How he got brought up, I have no idea. Lindsay has this real heavy Boston accent which I found to be very cool. I should've made her say "car." DAMMIT! Why didn't I make her say car?!

Johnny - Johnny Cupcakes. C'mon now, don't act like you never heard or Johnny Cupcakes. Johnny has provided me with plenty of knowledge and guidance since I started Fur Face Boy. He let me know if anytime I needed help, to just give him an email or call. He gave me great ideas and more ways to help push my brand even further and I can't thank him enough! He told me that out of all the people he's lectured to...I (ME!) stand out far and above the rest in utilizing the tips that he shares with everyone. He also said that he was very happy to see my brand grow. Hearing that straight from Johnny himself meant ALOT to me. It fuels me to keep getting better and to keep doing things even bigger! I can say for a fact that I WILL. A determined me, can get ANYTHING I want accomplshed.

Anyways, Me and Johnny also talked about cool-mint blue monkey ballsack (he even showed me a picture) and "secret" shaving tips...for the more sensitive regions.

I also talked to Johnny about getting him down to my home city - Dallas, TX! Some of you may know that Johnny is doing his Suitcase Tour (read more here). I figured he'd get tons of emails from people inviting him down to their city, but I really wanted to stand apart from the rest so that's why I wanted to meet him to personally invite him down. Oh and as for that secret project I worked on? It's a booklet of some suggested hot spots around DFW that Johnny may think about hosting his Suitcase Tour at. The booklet is also accompanied by a music cd filled with musicians ALL AND ONLY from the DFW area. I'm 99.99% certain that Johnny's coming to Dallas! But that's just my opinion. So don't quote me.

So there you have it, another very spontaneous, very hectic, very memorable yet VERY FUN filled weekend in the life of Fur Face Boy. A BIG Thanks to Johnny and his cupcake staff on making all of the havoc worth it's while. THANKS GUYS! I hope to see you all again soon!

FUN FACT: Johnny Cupcakes doesn't like onions in his sandwiches. He likes onion rings though.

SOLE BOUTIQUE

Spontaneously, I decided to take a trip to San Antonio, TX this past weekend to hand deliver a Fur Face Boy order to the latest shop to carry the line. Everyone say "Hello" to my new friends (from left to right) Fabby, Julio and B! Together, they form the greatness of SOLE BOUTIQUE! C'mon, let's check it out...

Instantly you will notice the shop's extreme cleanliness and massive space. NOTE: The pictures you are about to see of Sole Boutique DO NOT do much justice until you actually visit the shop. The space / set up is TRULY AMAZING!

What would Sole Boutique be without Soles? HIghly exclusive and limited New Balance, Saucony, Asics...

...PF Flyers, Puma, and Adidas are available at Sole Boutique!

Speaking of Adidas, Sole Boutique is one of the select few shops in the U.S. to carry the limited Adidas x Star Wars collabs. Without a doubt, I DEFINITELY had to get my hands on a pair of those Skywalkers!

Sole Boutique also carries apparel and accessories from brands like Mishka, Tokidoki, Kid Robot, Undrcrwn, Jeepney, New Era, Nooka and much more! (And HEY! Let's not forget about Fur Face Boy too!)

Aside from the awesome store set up and selction of brands, another unique quality of Sole Boutique is all of the coolass original art (by local artisits) that they have throughout the entire shop! Some works are even muraled directly onto the walls! Check it out...

After dropping off Sole Boutique's first FFB order, me and the Sole Boutique Crew headed out to Palo
ma Blanca. There, we didn't just stuff our faces with the delicious Mexican food, but we also got to know each other much better. We talked about how we operated our businesses, what drove us to start things up, future events we BOTH had in mind, family, friends, keeping in mind what / who to avoid, general life and most importantly... sharing stupid stories, goofing around and just having a good time!

I've been saying this ever since I started my brand...

"You gotta be cool with me to work with me because I don't wanna deal with ANY kind of asshole / conflict / or tension..." - LINK

That's why I make it a very important factor that I go and actually meet the owners of the shops that carry my line.
I can't thank Julio, Fabby, B and ALL of San Antonio enough for taking the chance on FFB. I'm in complete awe that such a badass shop, run by such coolass people decided to give my brand a chance. They absolutely loved the box set I sent them and I told them that if they like that..."they haven't seen nothing yet!
"

P.S. Don't forget to check out RANDOM to see what else I did while in San Antonio.
