KID ROBOT DALLAS
Yesterday immediately after work, I decided to head out to the GRAND OPENING of the KID ROBOT store right here in beautiful Dallas, TX!
The line was INSANE! It stretched from the front...
down the sides of the Mockingbird Station shopping center...
...
then curved all the way around the block!
Like everyone else, I had to start from the back as well.
Coming straight from my day job, I wasn't geared up in Fur Face Boy nor was I equipped with my FFB street team marketing arsenal (business cards, stickers, shirts). So for today, I just came as your casual Kid Robot fan - but that definitely didn't stop me from conversating with the crowd and taking pictures! SMILE!
Along my ventures through the massive line, I came across a few Fur Face Boy supporters!
I LOVE DALLAS! The people, the city, the culture and vibe makes it a no brainer for Kid Robot to be located here! Seeing this monsterous line and the few Fur Face Boy supporters made me think...maybe, just maybe - one day...an actual Fur Face Boy store? Hmmm...who knows...

Last night, I headed out to the House of Blues to check out Kid Cudi.
I passed out all of my Fur Face Boy business cards last Saturday at Kixpo. So for today, I got the crowd to sing me some Day 'N' Nite...
Enough of the word bubbles, I want to hear some people actually singing. Since I had no more business cards to pass out, I instead brought a few Fur Face Boy shirts to pass out! So if anyone wanted a FREE FFB shirt, they knew what to do...

KIXPO RECAP
This past weekend I showcased at KIXPO! Kixpo is Dallas / Fort Worth's biggest sneaker and streetwear expo! Last year I went to the event as an event goer, so it took me awhile to take in the fact that this year I was going as an exhibitor! What a difference a year makes, huh?! Whatever, let's run through the day...
The night before, I stayed up until about 6am making sure I had everything I needed for the event. Checking inventory, gathering shirts and making sure I had all my signage, handouts and material ready was a huge pain in the ass, but in the end it was a good feeling to take a step back and see how things came together.
I was lucky to be sandwiched in-between my Fur Face Boy family...

After I set up my table, I figured that the only time I could catch a glimpse of all the RARE, ONE OF A KIND and VHTF sneakers was now, so I did - DO NOT TOUCH!!!
I spot a VERY UNDERRATED Air Jordan (here's a clue: 2000).
MAN! I wish I had a complete set of the Reebok Voltron Lion Force Pack! I wouldn't mind having those Triumvir Dunks or those P.Rod Marco Hernandez either.
OoOooooooOooooooh...a nice collection of Air Max 1's.

After a quick rundown of all the awesomeness, I grabbed a slice of pizza (which was the only thing I ate all day - until this) that they had giving away, inside the pizza box was a fortune cookie (I know, weird.) I cracked open the fortune cookie, this was my fortune:
You can never go wrong with a cookie! The Fur Face Boy table was BONKERS with customers wanting to get their hands on the FFB Kixpo Exclusive as well as other FFB styles! I met and talked to so many people! It was great to meet original FFB fans for the first time, re-meeting people from last week's Centre BBQ, as well as meeting / making new friends! Tons of D/FW based crews and clothing labels like The Deadstock Crew, Index, Watermelon Democracy, Key City, Unkommon Kolor and Grp Fly also stopped by (and stopped by again!) to show FFB much love and much support!
I even got to chat it up abit with this guy - Dom Kennedy. Dom was a real cool guy, no lie. I took notice that he's a big Air Jordan fan so I figure I give him a FFB Kixpo Exclusive. Then we debated over which girls are better, Texas or Cali girls? And it's obvious we all know what the answer to that is...or do we?
After a crazy-busy, hectic, yet extremely successful / fun filled Saturday, I think everyone who attended Kixpo definitely deserves a Watermelon Sundae:

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE PAST WEEK
...I definitely ain't no millionaire and this Fur Face Boy thing takes money to stay afloat, so I had to sell some of my most precious and beloved items this week. **tear. First thing I parted with was my collection of worn Air Jordans. It's even hard to type this out without remembering the oh so many great times I had in my Jordans. From the first time I kissed that girl while wearing my XIV's to the last time I kissed that girl wearing my V's. How I landed that job wearing my X's, The taste of the most delicious candy apple I've ever eaten as I wore my II's, going to the hospital to stitch up my sliced up finger in my IX's, breaking neck's wearing my XI's...*Sigh* one day, I'll be reunited with all of you again...one day. *sob* *weep* ~sniffle~sniffle...I might as well start breaking in my III's now...~sniffle~
As you just read, I look at my shoes as pinpoints to my life, and since pretty much the beginning of Fur Face Boy, I've been doing it all in my Air Jordan III's. From mailing out free shirts to ALL 50 states to going out every chance I get to spread the FFB word, from photo shoots to twitter, from fan mail to opening the FFB webstore, from the Limited Edition Box Sets to being accepted into the Pool Tradeshow (more details on that in the next few weeks), from getting into Shogun to getting into Centre - I did it all while wearing my III's, so to commemorate Fur Face Boy getting to where it's currently at, I now present to you...

BACKYARD BBQ
A few weeks ago, I let you guys knows about these Limited Edition Fur Face Boy Box Sets that I created with the intentions of trying to get Fur Face Boy into a few select boutiques across the country. One of those boutiques that I sent a set to was right here in my own backyard of Dallas, TX...
...CENTRE! Centre was pretty impressed with not only the shirts inside the set, but also the overall presentation and materials I included that helped back my brand up. They called me a few days after receiving their box set to talk about how I could help Centre and how Centre could help me. In the end, we came up with the idea of having a TEXAS SIZED BBQ to annouce the arrival of Fur Face Boy to Centre!
Within the first hour of Fur Face Boy at Centre, a shirt was sold! AH! A FFB Blockman huh? Good choice! Good choice, indeed!
It was a good feeling to see some of my family and friends come out and support FFB! QUICK! Hide the donuts! That's Officer Kobe Dinh with his beautiful bride to be, my cousin - Vy Le! *Ahem*...I mean Vy Dinh? Hmmm...I need to get used to that.
My man, John-E Specs made it a point to come out and hang! John-E was one of the first to come and was the very last to leave! Never did I see him without a beer in his hands! Man, I hope he made it home safely...anyways, here's a 2nd chance at downloading his mixtape. Believe me when I say..."It's THE shit."
Aside from Centre selling Fur Face Boy shirts, I also brought a few extra to giveaway. Yes! GIVEAWAY! Meaning FOR FREE! If you're a true blue FFB fan, then you'd remember this guy, Aiden Blake aka Plain 'Ol Fur Face Boy, I met him at a Crystal Castles concert a few months ago. For more on that, read here. Well, I told him that I was gonna give him a FFB shirt awhile back, but I didn't have his size at the time. Turns out he's been following me on Twitter and knew I was gonna be giving away free shirts. And so, his stalking of me got him a FREE Incredible FFB shirt!
I also gave away a Blockman shirt...

Shogun San and Grace, the Empress of Shogun even swung by to pick up a FFB Dallas Exclusive! For those who don't know, Centre is the ONLY shop where you can get that particular design. These fellas right here form the greatness of Unkommon Kolor. Unkommon Kolor is another T-shirt line based right here in good 'ol Dallas, TX! They're all really cool dudes! They had questions for me and I had questions for them. That's what it's all about, picking each other's brains so that we can ALL end up with a SUPER BRAIN! Definitely check out their line and show them some support!
I ran out of giveaway shirts sonic fast! This guy was pretty disappointed he didn't get a shirt, so I gave him the next best thing...a FFB business card. (Insert audience track: BOOoOOoOoOooooooo!)
This is Tom Thompson and his daughter, Sarah. Tom is an O.G. SNEAKER FREAK! His collection ranges from original Air Jordans to classic Vans. I talked to him for a bit and I could totally hear the extreme passion he had for shoe collecting. He has sneaker boutiques throughout the country programed on speed dial so that he can be the first to pretty much every shoe that comes out! Here's to you Tom, a great guy with a great taste in shoes!
These are my new hombres, Vinnie V, the Don of Dallas and Michael Sanchez. They were all for hearing about how I started Fur Face Boy and how I find the time to make it happen. Like I pretty much tell everyone else who asks me..."Just work hard, keep at it, stick to a schedule, do whatever you can to keep spreading the brand out and most importantly...BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!"

As a graphic designer myself, I asked him what he wanted to work as when he graduated to which he said..."I just want to do what I want to do." I totally agreed with him and told him "...that's the reason why I started Fur Face Boy." I then told him with an upfront desclaimer that what I'm about to say may sound alittle sissyesque, but to just..."Follow your heart, man." After I said that, there was a second of awkwardness, until he agreed with me. *Whew!*

The Deadstock Crew was on hand giving Fur Face Boy their full support! I had a great time hanging out with these guys. We talked about our WTF day jobs, hot dog eating and each of our Holy Grails. If you don't know the Deadstock Crew, just look at them like this...they're pretty much the Mafia Boss when it comes to the DFW sneaker scene. They're the brains behind this upcoming weekend's KIXPO In which I, THE Fur Face Boy will be showcasing at. I'm also going to have a FFB KIXPO EXCLUSIVE which will be EXTREMELY, EXTREMELY LIMITED. Again, EXTREMELY. Check back here say sometime Tuesday or Wednesday for a preview of the shirt. Anyways, enough about that and back to the Deadstock Crew. They gave me the story on how they got started and in the end it was simply said..."Passion." That, I like.
This is my man, Brown and his girl, Superhero. Brown is in a hip-hop group with his brother Blue (who I thought I took a picture of, but I guess didn't - oh well) called Sore Losers. They're going to be performing at the Kixpo pre-party at the Lounge on the 24th and I have the feeling that both Brown and Blue will be freshly suited up in FFB while they perform! I loved hanging out and talking with everyone! And believe me when I say I crossed paths with about 3x more people than you just saw. From Holy Grails, to following your heart, movies to music, farting to 'turtle walking' it was great times all around! But hey, I definitely didn't forget to hang with the people who made this event possible, the Centre Crew! A GIANT THANKS to them for taking a chance on FFB! When I sent out the Box Set to Centre I had no clue if they were a-holes or not, I pretty much selected their store, based on how they presented themselves. Their design, their set up, the brands / products that they carry, their location and the fact that I used to drop my zine off there. When I first met the Centre Crew, right off the bat I felt comfortable. I looked at it as a HUGE bonus geting to work with people I was TOTALLY comfortable with. CENTRE X FUR FACE BOY
This Saturday, July 18th from 2 - 6 pm, my friends over at CENTRE are going to be having a BBQ BLOWOUT! I'm definitely going be there to hang out, laugh it up and hopefully make many memories with all of the people on hand! I'm also going be toting around my ghetto backpack full of Fur Face Boy shirts and I have quite the feeling that I'll be passing out FREE shirts to whoever I bump into! So be sure to tell ALL of your friends / family to stop by (even if it's just for a bit), grab a burger, grab a drink, bob your head to the live music, get some fresh new dunks to go along with your fresh new FFB and chill out with your homies, Centre and Fur Face Boy!

...I decided to put folding and bagging on the side until tomorrow. Now to get started on something else...
Hmmm....what could these be? Check back in a week or so to find out! OH THE SUSPENSE! DAMN YOU! TELL ME NOW ALREADY! - Neh.
What? You need to throw up? Totally understandable. I'll wait. (3 minutes pass) Are you OK now? Excellent. Well, no need to worry about going back in time anymore cause now we're back to the present. So now, let's take a look at how things are beginning to take shape with this project. Here are the pocket folders attached to a not yet assembled box.
Below are materials explaining / showing what the Fur Face Boy brand is, means and represents.
After checking through my inventory lists (I know the way I take inventory is a tad ghetto, but as long as I know what I'm doing, then I'm gonna stick to the way I'm doing this. I mean, SHIT! Warren Buffet doesn't even own a computer and he's a billionaire!), I found out that I had enough different shirts and sizes to go on further with this project.
Now time to pull certain styles and sizes from the FFB stock room accordingly to my inventory lists.
AH! It looks like things are finally starting to come together. Each box filled with FFB to the the very top! Let's see here...Dallas - Check! San Francisco - Check! Los Angeles - Check! And New York City - Check!
FINALLY! HERE IT IS! 5 months in the making...The Fur Face Boy Limited Edition Box Set! The reason It took a while is because I had to totally make sure I had everything set. And I'm not talking about just having the shirts, I'm talking about writing and rewriting the materials, finding the paper to make the pocket sleeve, searching options to create the sticker and a bunch of other small details that make each of these Limited Edition Box Sets truly one of a kind!
Time to pack these bad boys up and...
...mail them away!
I created these Limited Edition Box Sets with the purpose of trying to get into a few more specialty shops across the country. After doing a tremendous amount of research, I hand picked 1 store and 1 store only in Dallas, San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York City to carry the FFB line. If these shops decide to pick up FFB, they will be the ONLY stores ANYWHERE to carry the FFB City Exclusives. This definitely isn't a guarantee, but you'll never know what will happen if you don't try. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that some good news will come about from these sets. So whether it's good news or bad, check back in and I'll let you know. In the meantime...
...I'm continuing to work hard to get FFB Series 2 ready to go. There's gonna be A WHOLE LOT going on these next few months and July is the starting point to all of it! So I gotta prepare and plan extremely carefully to insure that everything goes accordingly. This month, I have a bunch of ideas and plans that I want to make happen, including having a FREE FFB GIVE-A-WAY contest! Can you say... Limited Edition FFB Box Set for yourself?! Also later this month, I'll be showcasing at KIXPO, D/FW's premiere sneaker & street wear expo! An EXTREMELY limited KIXPO ONLY FFB shirt will be available for purchase. Can you say...III?!
